Body recovered from Colorado River after flash flooding in Grand Canyon

National Park Service personnel recovered human remains near Crystal Rapids in the Grand Canyon, more than two weeks after deadly flash floods occurred in late August. The remains were transferred to the Coconino county medical examiner’s office for identification. While officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the body, they report that only one hiker, 53-year-old Timothy Smith, remains unaccounted for. The previous flooding events in the Arizona region resulted in two confirmed deaths.
