ICE detains boat captain in Statue of Liberty capsizing that killed mother, infant

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested Manuel Hernandez, the 46-year-old captain of a tour boat that capsized in the New York Harbor. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of a mother and her 5-month-old daughter. Hernandez is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who entered the United States in 2007 by providing false information to Customs and Border Protection. He is currently in ICE custody following the investigation into the fatal boat capsizing event.
