ICE arrests keep soaring. Here’s why they are not leading to more deportations.

ICE arrests continue to soar as part of a widespread nationwide crackdown occurring in recent months. While these current operations have not been as high-profile as previous enforcement actions conducted in cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Minneapolis, they have been more extensive in scope. Despite the rising number of arrests across the country, these efforts are not currently leading to an increase in the total number of deportations being carried out by the agency.
