Iran Court Upholds Prison Sentence, Travel Ban for Jafar Panahi

Tehran's Revolutionary Court has upheld a one-year prison sentence and a travel ban for the Oscar-nominated and Palme d’Or-winning filmmaker Jafar Panahi. The director was found guilty of engaging in propaganda activities against the Iranian state. According to lawyer Mostafa Nili, the court rejected Panahi's appeal regarding the original verdict, which had been issued in absentia in December. The ruling confirms the legal penalties for the director of the film It Was Just an Accident.
