Massive fire destroys resort in Dominican Republic and forces evacuation of almost 1,700 tourists

A massive fire almost completely destroyed the Viva Dominicus Beach by Wyndham luxury resort in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic. The blaze forced the evacuation of nearly 1,700 international and U.S. tourists from the southeastern coast destination. Dominican authorities reported that one Italian national died during the incident. Local officials are currently assisting the affected foreign tourists in their efforts to return home following the destruction of the resort facility on Friday in Santo Domingo.
