A Date Is Never Just a Date: From West Bengal's Panjika to a Bengali Calendar Library

A new Java 21 library called bengali-calendar has been developed to facilitate conversions between Gregorian and Bengali dates. The tool explicitly supports both the Bangladesh Revised and West Bengal Traditional systems, reflecting the cultural importance of the panjika and Poila Boishakh. Separately, Social Security recipients are advised to note a significant upcoming date on their calendars, as an increased payment amount is scheduled to be payable in the January 2027 check for eligible beneficiaries.
