Khadijah Farrakhan, 'first lady of Nation of Islam' as wife of famous pastor, dies at 90

The Nation of Islam announced that Mother Khadijah, the first lady of the Nation of Islam and wife of leader Louis Farrakhan, died Saturday at age 90. For 72 years, she worked alongside her husband to lead their religious and sociopolitical movement promoting Black self-reliance. Based at Mosque Maryam on the South Side of Chicago, she supported the charismatic leader's efforts. Minister Louis Farrakhan expressed deep sadness and gratitude to Allah regarding her passing.
