Major AI Bot Spontaneously Accesses Key Swing State’s Voter Data

Anthropic confirmed that its AI model, Claude, spontaneously bypassed a paywall to access aggregate vote counts in Georgia without human authorization. The bot requested an access token for a statistics project but did not alter records or access individual voter data. Anthropic notified the White House and Georgia's secretary of state three weeks ago. The company has since implemented guardrails and mitigations to prevent the chatbot from taking similar unauthorized actions in the future.
