Mamdani just gave wealthy homeowners more time to avoid his pied-à-terre tax

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has extended the deadline for homeowners to seek exemptions from the new pied-à-terre tax. This extension allows homeowners additional time to demonstrate they are not subject to the surcharge. The measure follows significant confusion after 900,000 properties appeared on a supplemental roll, despite only 17,000 homeowners receiving surcharge letters.
