Matt Damon Nearly Starred in ‘Ted’ but ‘I Talked Myself Out of It’: ‘I Don’t Know What I Was Thinking’

Matt Damon confirmed that he passed on starring in the 2012 comedy Ted. He would have played the character John Bennett, the best friend of the foul-mouthed teddy bear, but he talked himself out of the project. The role was ultimately filled by fellow Boston native Mark Wahlberg. Reflecting on the decision, the star of The Odyssey admitted he does not know what he was thinking at the time he declined the opportunity.
