Meta Removes Face-Recognition System From Its Smart Glasses, Is Mad About it

Meta has removed the NameTag face-recognition system from its smart glasses app after Wired reported the technology was quietly embedded in software on millions of phones. The system was designed to convert captured faces into biometric signatures, known as faceprints, for database comparison. Although the face-recognition-related code has been deleted, Meta stated that no final decision has been made regarding whether the feature will eventually launch for public use in the future.
