Microsoft is laying off 4,800 employees

Microsoft is reducing its workforce by approximately 4,800 employees, representing 2.1 percent of its staff, as the new financial year begins. These cuts primarily impact the Xbox division and commercial sales business. Additionally, Microsoft Gaming is executing a historic restructure, resulting in the layoff of 3,200 staff members and the divestment of four major first-party studios. These actions follow previous reductions of around 9,100 employees conducted by the software maker one year ago.
