Mike Locksley out as Maryland football coach after 8-plus seasons

Maryland University announced Wednesday that Mike Locksley is stepping down as football coach immediately following a mutual decision. This concludes his nine-year tenure with the program. The move follows a 37-30 loss to Rutgers, which represented the fifth consecutive defeat for the Terps and their twelfth overall loss of the season. The departure officially ends the Mike Locksley era of Maryland football after more than eight seasons of leading the team through various competitive challenges.
