MLB restricts dugout iPads to bar use of AI to make game decisions

Major League Baseball is restricting dugout iPad usage to prevent teams from utilizing artificial intelligence for in-game decisions. MLB disabled custom tabs that allowed access to programs providing recommendations for pitch calling and substitutions, tasks traditionally handled by coaches and players. The Mets were among the teams that exploited this loophole before the crackdown. These tablets previously provided video and league data, but the new restrictions ensure they are used only for their originally intended purposes.
