China Just Erased America's AI Lead

Moonshot AI released Kimi K3, a massive model that outperformed OpenAIs GPT-5.6 Sol and Anthropics Fable 5 in front-end coding tests. Kimi K3 also beat Anthropics Opus 4.8 in text rankings while costing 40% less. Moonshot plans to release Kimi as an open-weight model on July 27.
