More Americans say extreme heat is affecting their lives

An AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll indicates that extreme heat increasingly affects Americans' daily lives, particularly in the West and Midwest. Currently, 90% of respondents report at least a minor impact, rising from 83% two years ago. Specific effects include increased power bills for 80% of people and disrupted outdoor activities for 68%. Additionally, 50% of participants report that extreme heat has had a major or minor impact on their sleep over the last year.
