My Coworkers Pay Monthly to Stream Their Voice to a Datacenter. So I Built Them Loquacio: a Free Dictation App That Never Phones Home

Two developers created local AI tools for the Hacktoberfest Weekend Challenge. One built Loquacio, a free desktop dictation app for P3 Adaptive coworkers, ensuring audio is processed locally to avoid datacenter streaming and subscription costs. The other developed LingoBuddy, a terminal-based Spanish tutor for a friend. LingoBuddy enables conversation practice, provides English translations, and corrects accents, running entirely on the user's laptop to ensure privacy and accessibility without external connectivity.
