Microsoft set to invest $60M in Energy Department’s Genesis Mission

Microsoft is investing $60 million into the Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission to accelerate scientific discovery and technological leadership through AI. The commitment includes $40 million in Azure cloud and AI computing credits over three years for large-scale workloads, plus $20 million in additional funding. Joining NVIDIA, OpenAI, and Google, Microsoft aims to help double US scientific capabilities by building a specialized AI discovery platform to enhance research and innovation across the country.
