NASA’s Chandra and IXPE Study Pulsar in Lighthouse Nebula

NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and IXPE have studied a pulsar located within the Lighthouse nebula. A composite image released on July 9, 2026, combines X-ray data from Chandra in purple and IXPE in blue. This research allowed scientists to directly measure the magnetic fields of PSR J1101−6101 for the first time. The pulsar is a neutron star characterized by a strong magnetic field and an incredibly fast spin, situated inside the nebula's region.
