Sailors report food shortages, poor conditions aboard USS Lincoln as deployment drags on

Sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln reported food shortages and poor conditions during a prolonged deployment supporting military operations against Iran in the Middle East. After more than 260 days at sea, a mental health crisis emerged, raising concerns regarding self-harm. Consequently, Navy leadership held an in-person meeting in San Diego with approximately 200 family members to address these worries. The USS Abraham Lincoln eventually returned to San Diego on Thursday, August 11, 2022, following its seven-month deployment.
