Navy Opens Race for First Carrier-Based Loyal Wingman Combat Aircraft

The U.S. Navy has officially issued an RFI to develop carrier-based Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA). These autonomous combat aircraft are designed to function as loyal wingmen, extending the reach and firepower of crewed fighters. By integrating these systems, the Navy aims to boost overall air wing mass alongside existing F/A-18E/F and F-35C fighters. This initiative marks a strategic move to field carrier-capable autonomous platforms that support and enhance the capabilities of traditional manned fighter aircraft.
