NBC’s ‘Newlyweds’ Names Bruce Helford as New Showrunner

NBC and Universal Television have appointed sitcom veteran Bruce Helford as the new showrunner for the freshman multi-camera comedy Newlyweds. Helford replaces co-creator Gail Lerner, who was fired last Friday due to creative differences. This move reunites Helford with Jamie Lee Curtis, who co-created the series with Lerner. The production of Newlyweds is currently on a previously scheduled weeklong hiatus as the network brings in Helford to provide a steady hand for the show.
