Nearly a year after the South Shore raid forced him from his home, one former resident is still homeless

Nearly one year after Operation Midway Blitz, a federal enforcement campaign, former residents of 7500 S. South Shore Dr. in Chicago remain homeless. Darren Hightower, a former resident of the troubled apartment complex, currently sleeps in his Chevy Trailblazer to avoid detection. He is among dozens of individuals displaced by the military-style raid conducted by federal agents during the Trump administration, many of whom are still struggling to secure stable housing in the South Shore neighborhood.
