'Squad' Democrat formally introduces bill to abolish ICE, Border Patrol and dismantle DHS

Representative Delia Ramirez has introduced the Reimagining Safety Act to overhaul U.S. immigration agencies. This sweeping bill seeks to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection while completely dismantling the Department of Homeland Security. The legislation proposes replacing DHS with a new community-centered department. Additionally, the bill would ban federal funding for the border wall and ensure the closure of Guantanamo Bay to fundamentally restructure the current federal immigration and security framework.
