Hundreds of Noncitizens Voted in New Jersey Elections, Governor Reveals

Governor Mikie Sherrill revealed that thousands of noncitizens were discovered on New Jersey voter rolls. A software error within the state motor vehicle system resulted in approximately 6,600 noncitizens being registered to vote, with some individuals casting ballots. Governor Sherrill described the previous administration's lack of transparency regarding this issue as unacceptable. Consequently, the state has moved to purge these ineligible voters from the rolls to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
