Nintendo will stop selling the original Switch in Europe next year

Nintendo will stop selling all original Switch versions in Europe by mid-February 2027, nearly ten years after launch. This decision follows new EU regulations requiring user-replaceable batteries. Consequently, Nintendo will introduce updated Switch 2 versions and various controllers with replaceable batteries on a rolling basis starting this summer. These updates ensure compliance before the February 18, 2027, deadline. Nintendo states that there is no difference in functionality between the current products and these updated versions.
