Switch Pirate Ignored Nintendo’s Lawsuit, Now He Owes $4.5 Million

A Washington federal court ordered former r/SwitchPirates moderator James "Archbox" Williams to pay Nintendo $4.5 million in damages. US District Judge Lauren King issued the judgment after Nintendo accused Williams of operating at least four pirate shops to illegally decrypt and distribute Switch games since 2019. The lawsuit, filed in June 2024, detailed how Williams used circumvention device software to bypass security.
