Utah posts its hottest summer on record, but here’s who benefited from the summer rains

NOAA announced that summer 2026 was the hottest on record in the U.S., with a meteorological summer average temperature of 74.4 degrees, which is 3 degrees above average. August reached an average of 75.6 degrees. These figures represent the warmest temperatures in the agency's 132-year record. Additionally, Utah experienced its hottest summer on record, although certain groups benefited from the accompanying summer rains during this period of extreme heat across the country.
