Maritime experts travel to Nantucket to investigate shipwreck remains exposed by nor’easter

Maritime experts are traveling to Nantucket to investigate weathered wooden beams exposed by a powerful nor’easter along the southern shore. The Egan Maritime Institute's exhibits and collections manager will survey the site and provide a report to state underwater archaeologists. Together, they aim to determine the specific identity of the vessel, which is believed to be a 19th-century shipwreck. The inspection follows the emergence of the wreckage from the sand after the recent severe weather event.
