DOJ settles with OpenAI over discrimination claims against US workers

OpenAI and its subsidiary Statsig reached a $3.2 million settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice on Tuesday. The DOJ alleged that the company violated the Immigration and Nationality Act by favoring potential employees with temporary employment visas over U.S. workers. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon stated that preferring temporary visa holders for jobs is illegal. This settlement ensures OpenAI redresses the harm caused by bypassing American talent in its hiring processes.
