Opera loses EU court fight to have Microsoft Edge labelled a gatekeeper

The General Court of the European Union has rejected Opera's legal challenge regarding the status of Microsoft Edge. The court ruled that the European Commission did not err in its decision to exclude the browser from being designated as a gatekeeper service under the Digital Markets Act. Consequently, Microsoft Edge will remain exempt from the bloc's strictest tech regulations, as the court found Microsoft provided sufficiently substantiated arguments to justify the exemption from these specific rules.
