Opinion: Hilton blames Dems; Becerra blames Trump in governor debate

California gubernatorial nominees Xavier Becerra and Steve Hilton participated in a heated CNN debate on Wednesday, occurring just over a month before the midterm elections. During the confrontation, Hilton attributed issues to Dems, while Becerra placed blame on Trump. Although the debate was fiery, it is generally rare for such political contests to have a material effect on final outcomes, particularly when the contestants primarily rely on established talking points throughout the event.
