Oscars: Ukraine Selects ‘Traces,’ About Women Who Survived Sexual Assault During War With Russia, for International Feature Race

Ukraine has submitted the documentary Traces, directed by Alisa Kovalenko and Marysia Nikitiuk, for the international feature category at the 2027 Academy Awards. The film focuses on women surviving sexual assault during the war with Russia. Meanwhile, France has selected Minotaur, a political thriller by exiled Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev and Cannes Grand Prize winner, for the 99th Academy Awards. The French selection followed auditions with producers and distributors including Mubi, Neon, and Sony Pictures Classics.
