Oscars: Rwanda Makes History As ‘Ben’Imana’ Becomes First Official Entry; Alexander Set U.S. & UK Release

Rwanda has selected Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo's debut feature Ben’Imana as its first-ever submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards. The post-genocide drama explores justice and reconciliation through a community of women. Previously premiering in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, the film achieved significant acclaim, winning both the Caméra d’Or and the Fipresci prize before its official entry into the prestigious Oscars international feature race.
