Patagonia sues Trump over reducing protected areas of Utah national monuments

Patagonia has joined a lawsuit challenging Donald Trump's decision to significantly reduce the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah. The president's order stripped nearly 3m acres of safeguards, reducing the sites by 90% to potentially allow oil and gas companies access. Trump argued this move enables higher-priority use of lands containing critical minerals essential for national security and resource independence, despite the areas containing sacred tribal sites and protected environmental landscapes.
