Positive Steps on International Justice Day

International Justice Day commemorates the July 17, 1998 adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). As the court of last resort, the ICC provides justice for victims of the most serious international law violations. Recently, families and activists gathered in The Hague to demand accountability for thousands killed during former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's drug war. Despite these efforts, the United States is currently posing a threat to victims' access to justice.
