Publishers said this book about quilters wouldn’t work. Now Hollywood is calling.

Eli McCann, a humor columnist for the Salt Lake Tribune, released his debut novel titled Stitched through Torrey House Press. Although publishers initially believed a story about quilters would not succeed, the book has since attracted interest from Hollywood. The narrative celebrates older women in the quilting community of Utah. McCann signed copies of the work on August 19, 2026, marking a successful defiance of industry doubts regarding the book's commercial viability and appeal.
