SF Archdiocese agrees to nearly $400M in sexual abuse settlement

The Roman Catholic Archbishop of San Francisco reached an agreement in principle to pay $395 million to settle over 500 lawsuits involving child sexual abuse claims under California Assembly Bill. As part of this settlement, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone must write an apology letter to each survivor. Furthermore, the RCASF is required to implement specific child protection reforms to resolve the legal actions brought by plaintiffs' attorneys against the church officials involved in the abuse.
