Scientists discover a bizarre “devil flower” hidden in Thailand

Scientists have discovered a strange black plant in Thailand named Thismia daemona, commonly called the devil flower. This bizarre species lives mostly underground and obtains nutrients from fungi rather than photosynthesis. With fewer than 50 known individuals, the plant may already be critically endangered. Found on a national park forest floor, its unique appearance resembles a small bug man standing on hind legs, making it strikingly different from typical plant species found in nature.
