Shakira makes surprise visit to earthquake-damaged Colombia and commits to building new schools

Colombian superstar Shakira made a surprise visit to the earthquake-damaged Chocó region, pledging to help build at least 10 new schools. Collaborating with Global Citizen, Live Nation, and CAF, she committed an initial $1.25 million to rebuild educational sites affected by the disaster, which killed hundreds. The effort will be led by her Fundación Pies Descalzos to kickstart education in the remote area after the devastating earthquake impacted thousands of educational facilities across the region.
