Sony revives the Walkman with a $5,899 gold-plated flagship

Sony has revived the Walkman line with three new digital music players. The range includes the NW-ZX900 starting at $1,899.99, the NW-WM1AM3 priced at $2,999.99, and a gold-plated flagship NW-WM1ZM3 costing $5,899. The top model features a gold-plated oxygen-free copper chassis. While US pricing is available, European release dates and prices remain undisclosed. Additionally, the EU's regulations regarding user-replaceable batteries will apply to such devices starting from 18 February 2027, impacting future hardware designs.
