Supreme Court Allows Reporter to Be Fined for Failing to Disclose Source

The Supreme Court declined to stop civil contempt fines imposed on former Fox News reporter Catherine Herridge. U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ordered a fine of $800 per day after Herridge refused to reveal sources for 2017 articles concerning a scientist investigated by the F.B.I. The higher court's decision allows the lower court's penalty to remain in effect following her refusal to disclose the confidential information used in her reporting during her tenure.
