EU to restrict social media and chatbots for children under 15

The EU is introducing the Kids Act to restrict social media and AI chatbot access for minors. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen announced that children under 13 will be banned from social media, while those under 15 cannot hold personal accounts without parental consent. The proposal aims to ensure parental supervision for younger users and asserts Europe's authority over big tech. Von der Leyen described AI as the second tipping point of our time after climate change.
