Alexi Hawley, the creator and showrunner of The Rookie, has signed a new multi-year overall deal with Lionsgate Television. This extension follows ABC renewing The Rookie for a ninth season and the development of an upcoming spinoff scheduled for 2027. Additionally, Hawley is producing the hostage-recovery series The Envoy, which is moving from Hulu to HBO Max. The pact ensures Hawley continues leading The Rookie franchise while developing new scripted television series for the studio.
