The world's thinnest portable SSD is just as impractical as you think

At IFA 2026 in Berlin, Lexar introduced the Muse, claiming it is the world's thinnest portable SSD. The device measures 3.8mm at its thickest point and tapers to 1mm at the edges. Due to its slim profile, the Muse lacks a standard USB-C port, instead utilizing SnapLink, a proprietary pogo-pin connector with N52-grade neodymium magnets. This design requires a specific magnetic cable to function, meaning the drive is unusable without this proprietary accessory.
