U.S. measles cases reach 35-year high in 2026, surpassing last year’s total

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the United States has recorded 2,318 measles cases during the first seven months of 2026. This figure represents a 35-year high and already surpasses the total of 2,289 cases logged throughout all of 2025. With five months remaining in the year, the current tally has already exceeded the previous record-breaking numbers reported by the CDC and AP in Atlanta regarding the spread of the virus.
