They fought for more than just America: The Black troops of 1776

Approximately 5,000 non-white enlistees are believed to have served on the patriot side during the American Revolution. These Black troops fought for causes extending beyond the borders of America. However, this specific segment of historical record is currently considered to be at risk of being papered over. The contribution of these soldiers remains a critical yet endangered part of the overall narrative surrounding the struggle for American independence and the patriot military efforts.
