Thomson Reuters launches proprietary AI model for legal work

Thomson Reuters Corp. has launched Thomson-1, its first proprietary large language model designed for legal work. This model integrates the company's extensive legal knowledge with external LLMs to deliver legal advice. Initially, Thomson-1 will be deployed within Tabular Analysis, a high-volume document review feature of the CoCounsel Legal AI assistant. By developing this internal model using Chinese technology, Thomson Reuters aims to reduce its operational reliance on Anthropic and the Claude AI solutions.
