TouchGrass AI: Building a Local AI Companion That Gets You Outside 🌿

TouchGrass AI and TrailMate are local AI companions designed to reduce screen time and encourage outdoor activity. Developed for Hacktoberfest 2026, these tools combat digital fatigue by turning walks into adventures. TrailMate provides short quests, such as finding trees or sitting in silence, utilizing open-weight vision models for offline identification in airplane mode. Users earn XP, levels, and badges for real-world actions, concluding their sessions with a Touch Grass Score and a brief activity recap.
