TrailGemma - An Offline Nature Companion That Tells You to Put It Down

TrailGemma and TrailMate are AI-powered outdoor companions submitted for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge Week 1: Touch Grass. These tools aim to minimize screen time, encouraging users to engage with nature. TrailGemma provides a spoken field briefing to limit phone use to under 60 seconds. Similarly, TrailMate generates customized adventures with missions and safety reminders, enforcing a phone-away rule. Both applications prioritize a cycle of planning, observing, and reflecting to reduce digital distraction during activities.
